Intune MDM Architect (DWP Mobility)
Engagement Overview
Our client is seeking a senior-level Intune MDM Architect to provide expert-level technical ownership, architecture governance, and strategic advisory for the Mobile Device Management (MDM) and broader Microsoft 365 cloud ecosystem.
This role acts as our internal technical authority and the primary advisor to the MDM Product Owner. You will be responsible for the "broader meaning" of architecture: defining the technical roadmap, setting platform standards, managing technical change, and facilitating complex cross-functional alignment. This includes guiding Infosys engineering teams and possessing the technical depth and professional strength to represent MDM interests in high-level architecture forums (e.g., M365 and Cyber/Security organizations) and challenge adjacent architectural decisions where MDM dependencies or impacts exist.
The engagement requires a high degree of autonomy, independent decision-making, and deep subject matter expertise in Microsoft Intune, the broader Microsoft 365 cloud stack, and enterprise mobile platforms (ABM/KNOX).
Scope of Services
The contractor will own the technical architecture and standards for the MDM domain, acting as the bridge between high-level enterprise requirements and managed service delivery.
Key Focus Areas
· Technical Direction & Roadmap: Own the technical direction and roadmap for MDM. You will determine how the platform evolves, balancing short-term operational stability with long-term strategic modernization within the M365 ecosystem.
· Standards Definition: Define standards for device management, enrollment, compliance, policy configuration, and integrations. You are the final technical gatekeeper for these standards across the environment.
· Change Governance & Security Facilitation: Own the technical change process, reviewing and approving major changes to ensure they align with requirements, cyber security and legal expectations, and our long-term strategic direction.
· Change Management Accountability: Serve as the process owner for MDM change management. Ensure all changes are implemented, supervise the change process for the Mobility MDM team, and provide formal change approvals.
· Documentation & Auditing: Conduct comprehensive audits of MDM processes, configurations, and existing documentation. Develop and maintain a library of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Knowledge Base (KB) articles.
Scope of Services
· Senior Technical Guidance: Provide senior technical guidance and architectural oversight across platforms, specifically Intune, Apple Business Manager (ABM), and Samsung KNOX. You will be the technical lead for these domains and an advisor on all technical aspects.
· Cross-Functional Technical Alignment: Act as the internal technical advisor to the MDM Product Owner. You will represent the MDM domain in architecture forums (e.g., M365 Architecture Forum) and must be strong enough to challenge adjacent M365/Security architects to ensure the best outcome for the platform.
· Cyber & Security Facilitation: Act as the internal technical bridge to Cyber/Security/Legal. You will lead architectural reviews, risk assessments, and compliance discussions, ensuring that MDM technical designs meet security controls and enterprise policies.
· Vendor Guidance: Actively guide Infosys engineering and operational resources, ensuring their delivery adheres to the technical standards and designs you establish.
Collaboration & Influence
Lead through influence in a global, multicultural environment across sourcing, finance, legal, IT, and business teams.
Provide mentorship and technical leadership to internal staff, MSP resources, and dotted-line contributors as part of service delivery (non-people-manager role).
Deliverables
· MDM Technical Roadmap & Direction: An evolving document defining the technical trajectory of MDM within the M365 cloud stack.
· Technical Audit & Gap Report: A baseline assessment of the current MDM environment, highlighting technical debt or configuration gaps, accompanied by a prioritized remediation roadmap.
· Standards & Design Repository: A maintained library of device management standards, enrollment protocols, and compliance guardrails.
· Change Management Validation: A formal record of major technical changes, approvals, and impact analyses.
· Compliance Evidence: Documentation confirming that all MDM configurations and operational workflows adhere to security and compliance policies.
· Architecture Forum Input: Technical presentations, design documentation, and roadmap updates for representation at the M365 Architecture Forum.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
· Proven experience as an Architect or Lead in a complex, multi-vendor enterprise environment.
· Deep technical mastery of Microsoft Intune and the full Microsoft 365 cloud stack.
· Proven ability to lead technical direction, define standards, and manage complex design reviews.
· Strong experience facilitating with Cyber/Security/Legal teams and managing technical change at scale.
· Proven experience in designing or managing enterprise-scale MDM solutions. Strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITIL) frameworks.
· Experience leading or supervising formal change management processes within a global, highly regulated IT environment.
Desired Experience & Attributes
· Platform Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of MDM Intune, Apple Business Manager (ABM) and Samsung KNOX.
· Strategic Advisory: Ability to act as a primary advisor to a Product Owner on all technical aspects of the stack.
· Vendor Oversight: Experience guiding managed service provider (Infosys) resources without direct line management.
· Professional Style: Proactive, structured, results-driven, and highly capable of representing the MDM domain in high-stakes architectural debates.
· Communication: Ability to articulate technical requirements and change impacts to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
